My Updated Nail Polish Storage

Hi there!

Over the past year, my most popularly visited blog post was that of my nail polish storage... so I figured I'd show how it looks a year later...

My nail polish rack/storage/shelf/collection.

As you can see, it's changed a bit... and the collection has surely expanded :-) Each regular shelf can hold 2 rows of polish, while the bottom shelf can hold 3 rows.

I keep my mini sets up top, and then I try to organize the full sized bottles by color. I purchased the plastic baskets on the bottom to hold glitter polish, crackle/shatter polish, nude polish, and all of my Julep polish. I keep black and white polish in a 3-drawer unit to the left of the doorway. I also keep untried polish, polish I'm unsure about, and top coats/base coats/treatments/etc. in the unit.

I currently have 12 mini sets on top, roughly 495 bottles of polish on the 13 regular shelves, and about 106 bottles of polish spread throughout the baskets on the bottom shelf.

This rack is still as strong as ever. There are 4 support bars in the back so the sides don't cave in... and it's secured to the wall. I've never had a problem with any of the bottles falling to the floor- not even with my 95 pound dog. She's pretty dang well behaved! It's tough to see in the picture, but I have little pieces of wood at the front of each regular shelf... that also helps to keep each polish in its place.

There aren't any plans for how to build the shelf. I simply told hunny poo the measurements and spacing that I wanted, and he built it for my Birthday :-)

How do you organize your polish? A shoebox? That's how I stored mine before this baby came into my life! Do you organize yours by brand or color? I'd love to see a picture!

Until next time...

  1. I finally moved from shoeboxes into a helmer, finally! It's so much easier to find polished now. I've got my drawers organized by brand but use swatch sticks to organize by color.

  4. This shelf is amazing, I love how you have them sorted! I have mine organized in 2 of those "melmer" units, 6 drawers altogether.

  7. My storage is similar but the homemade shelving built by hubby is on the walls. I have three so far and trying to thin down my stash so I don't need another built.

  9. That's a huge collection. You're going to need a bigger place to store them if you buy any more.

  10. With all those colors and quantity. I will surely have use for my warehouse software solutions now. Definitely going to record all these down! So I wouldn't have to look through all these papers.
